The future is self… self-awareness that is… A lot has been played in the “how do you fit?” arena… There is something to be said about a cohesive team but, how do we improve once we have the team. How do we truly go from Good to Great with that team? I believe that the future is around self-awareness. I think that many future courses in executive leadership will center around how to do this. All of the books of the past have given us looks into this... We learned how team who are disciplined in thought and action can transform companies, we know what makes a good leader, we know that being vulnerable makes us a better leader, etc.… But do we really look at ourselves in the mirror? Do we question the who, the how, the why of us and our decisions? Do we question what our motives are and why we behave like we do? Do we ever go back to people we harmed and ask… for forgiveness (vulnerability)? Do you think before you speak and have practiced when bad times arise how you are going to respond because of your own self-awareness?
I think as we progress into this century, we will have to become more aware of our selves. I feel we must – for our future… for our planet’s future.
